Took my car in yesterday for an oil change and to check my brakes. Went to look around some stores while we waited. Received a call from the service writer to tell me that my rear brakes were metal on metal, my front brake rotors should be resurfaced, and that my rear shock was leaking - all to the tune of over $600. Well, there was no way that I could pay for that, and I told him to just do the oil change and I would have to wait until next paycheck to start working on my car. Received a call back about 10 minutes later from the Manager, who looked at my estimate. He knew I have a small son and told me that the rear brakes were an absolute essential, and it was a safety issue. He gave me a quite of $221 for the rear brakes, and oil change, which sounded reasonable. I went back to the shop, and waited for about an hour. He then came in and told me it was going to still be a while - and let me drive their shuttle car home. No questions asked, nothing - just take the car, and we will call you later. AMAZING. Nobody does that - you can't even get a courtesy ride from a dealership anymore. I feel like my safety was of importance to them, and the fact that money was an issue and they cut me a deal was great - and didn't pressure me into doing the other work that wasn't ESSENTIAL at that moment. I'll go back again.
