DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 21, 2005)/PRNewswire/ – RepairOne® Automotive Concepts, LLC has announced a partnership with Halifax Habitat for Humanity (HHH) to build the next HHH home in the Daytona Beach area. As part of the company’s One Home, One Family initiative, RepairOne® owners, team members, customers, friends and family will work side-by-side with HHH staff to build the home. For the first time at HHH, a web cam will be installed at the building site for the family and community to monitor construction progress online at www.RepairOne.com.
RepairOne’s partnership is in conjunction with a Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) 5:1 matching grant earned by HHH as a result of hurricanes that devastated the area last year. The RepairOne sponsored home is scheduled to be completed prior to the 2005 hurricane season.
“It’s heartwarming to sponsor this build with Halifax Habitat for Humanity and assist a local family in realizing their dream of home ownership,” said Todd Hayes, RepairOne Founding Partner. “This is a great way for our entire team to get involved as part of our commitment to improving the quality of life where our customers live and work.”
According to Sarah Kotas of HHH, homeowners are chosen based on three criteria – current living conditions, ability to provide payment, and their willingness to partner with HHH. A family must also be willing to invest 300 to 500 "sweat equity" hours by working with volunteers to construct their home. The family will repay a zero interest mortgage with terms that extend for an average of 20 years. The mortgage payments are then combined with community donations to help build the next HHH home.
Since opening in October 2002, RepairOne® has been contributing to local charitable organizations as part of The RepairOne Pledge to serve the community they are in. RepairOne® is a privately held company based in Daytona Beach, Fla., formed to create and grant the Master Franchise Rights and Area Development Rights of automotive repair and service center stores franchised under the "RepairOne" name. RepairOne® is an established retailer throughout the United States, with locations in densely populated, suburban areas that provide easy access for customers.
Habitat for Humanity has been building homes since 1976. The Halifax Habitat for Humanity (HHH) affiliate, founded in 1986, has built 86 homes throughout East Central Florida. Their ‘Build them by the Dozen’ campaign constructs one new home each month.
